About Me

For over 23 years whenever I taught Dale Carnegie, conducted trainings, or spoke professionally I told stories and used quotes.  People always asked me for copies of my stories and I didn't have them all in one place.  I collected them over the years and realized I have hundreds and hundreds of them. What's funny is that I got in the rut of telling the same 10-15 stories all the time because they were comfortable for me, and I loved their lessons.  So now, taking out all my stories and going through them as I post them is like discovering treasure.  Putting my stories on this blog is not work at all, it is sheer joy and excitement as I re-learn and re-mind myself of all these lessons.

I’m a shoe addict. Throughout all my years of speaking and training, I wore heels - high heels, kitten heels, low heels - you name it!   The shoes literally gave me the confidence to stand tall and speak out, regardless of the audience or topic.

Like most shoe addicts, I always have a zillion pairs of shoes in my closet. Some I seem to live in, others I’ve never worn, a few bought to wear with a specific outfit and now match nothing else, and many that didn’t fit like I hoped they would when I wore them out …as opposed to how great they felt when I tried them on and wore them in the store on carpet for those 5 minutes  - ever notice how that happens?!

Being frustrated by how expensive and complicated it was to sell my shoes on eBay, I decided there had to be a better way.  So, long story short, I started my own auction site for shoe lovers!  That is how If The Shoe Doesn’t Fit was born; a site where you can sell, swap, or shop for shoes and shoe accessories. Although this blog isn’t about my website, it's all related, and I have a blog about shoes (sort of) SpeakerInHeels.com  and it's all part of me, so I figured I’d tell you about it.

I am “mom” to three golden retrievers- Morgie (10) who I’ve had since she was 8 weeks old, Lacey (7) who I rescued from going to a kill shelter when she was 1 year old and Sadie (a little over a year) who I rescued in April of 2010.  Sadie also loves shoes – in fact, she ate the left shoe of a pair of coveted Louboutins I had saved for…God made her cute so she survived that day!

My other great passion in life is ballroom dancing.  I’ve danced for about 6 years now, and focus on International Standard.  My description of dancing is that I’ve never worked so hard at something in my life to be mediocre. I believe I could study and practice for 20 more years and still feel like I am a beginner. But I love every second of it.

So now you know a lot about me – drop me a note if you have ideas for the blog or questions about anything, or just want to reach out.  Love to hear from you. You can reach me at Ellen <at> SimesConsulting<dot> com.
